Which Virtual Sports Betting Option is the Most Fun to Bet On?

Written By Ian John on November 12, 2019

Why do you bet? For a very fortunate few, who seem to have some kind of ethereal gift, betting may be a way to supplement their income, or even generate an income if they are professional sports bettors. However, for the vast majority of people, betting is a way by which they could win some money but which first and foremost offers a way for them to enjoy themselves.

While wagering money is, of course, serious and there needs to be regulations and securities in place to protect players, we do sometimes forget that the primary reason for betting on anything, whether that is Virtual Sports, traditional sports, esports or whatever else, is fun.

So with that in mind, we are going to take a look at the different types of esports available across a number of providers and try to answer the rather tricky question of which  virtual sport is the most fun to play and is the most likely to put a smile on your face.

The problem with picking the ‘most fun’ Virtual Sports betting game

Now of course, I must first begin by adding a caveat here. When we use the term ‘most fun’ it is entirely a subjective view. So many factors can influence what an individual themselves feel is fun. It may be that they enjoy a particular sport more so than any other, or that they enjoy a particular type of bet that is found on a particular virtual sport game, more than any others.

It may even be that a player has a favourite Virtual Sport because they have enjoyed positive results on that game in the past and so have a favourable view of it compared to other sports. Similarly, players may have a negative view of some Virtual Sports if they have not enjoyed much success when betting on it in the past.

Of course, there is no right or wrong answer here and each players view is as valid as the next. All I am looking to do here is show you which Virtual Sports games I think are the ones that put a smile on my face and to see whether you would agree with that.

It is fine to disagree, it is equally fine to agree!

So with that very much in mind, let’s now take a look at the Virtual Sports games I consider to be the most enjoyable to bet on, starting with perhaps, a surprising omission from the list.

As a Football Fan, Virtual Football Doesn’t Make The List

My passion is football, but I have to be honest and say that I am not the biggest fan of betting on Virtual Football. As someone who likes to engage with statistical analysis of my football bets, the fact that on the majority of Virtual Football games you can’t do this (and on those that you can, the stats are randomly generated) does diminish the appeal of this particular form of Virtual Sports betting for me.

However, I still find huge enjoyment when playing a number of other Virtual Sports games.

Virtual Horse Racing

For me, I think the best of Virtual Sports can be boiled down to the essence of picking the winner in many bets and as such, while there are a number of choices when it comes to race-based Virtual Sports, Virtual Horse Racing is the best option for me.

There are a number of reasons for this. Firstly, I like the fact that races (depending on which Virtual Horse Racing game you play) can have a varied numbers of runners competing and, crucially, this often means that you get a great spread in odds when betting on the winner. So you can back the favourite at short odds if you prefer, but you can also place a bet on a rank outsider too, which could offer you a big return if your pick is lucky enough to land the win.

This and the ability to bet each way for more flexibility on a race also makes horse racing betting the most fun for me. I also like the fact that you get to see the whole race unfold and the presentation of the sport, is so professionally done and clever that it does look like the real thing at times.

There are other Virtual Sports based on races that offer almost as much fun as horseracing. Greyhounds in particular is very realistic and I also think the Virtual Cycling and Virtual Motor Sport offer great value betting too as well as slick presentation, although I think the commentary in race games does need to be a little more exciting at times.

However, my next selection is based more on a game, than a race.

Virtual Darts

I have to admit to being a little sceptical as to how Virtual Darts would pan out, but when I saw the final product I have to admit I was blown away by how realistic it was. Indeed, if you want a Virtual Sport that looks and plays most like its real-life counterpart, even if it is over a single leg of darts, then Virtual Darts is impossible to beat.

This starts with the inclusion of real life players in the game, all of whom are former professional stars now playing on the seniors tour. These players were recorded playing a game and this video has been used to make the game the most realistic Virtual Sport you can play today.

The mechanics of darts also make this easy to make realistic in many ways. You can animate the dart hitting each number and with video of the player making the throw, you can splice both together to make it look like they are hitting any combination of numbers and throws.

There are not too many markets on Virtual Darts either, which makes betting on it very uncomplicated and this makes the game hugely fun to play. However, the bets available do tie in nicely with the bets you would find available on a standard game of darts.
