After obtaining a license to operate in Africa, Betway, one of the foremost betting services in the world, are set to offer Global Bet’s premium virtual games portfolio to African customers.

The news is exciting for both Betway, who are keen to expand their presence around the globe as one of the world’s biggest betting operators, as well as for African-based betting fans who will now be able to access a wide selection of top quality Virtual Sports offerings from Global Bet through the Betway Africa service.

Betway partnering Global Bet

Market Leaders in the Region

Speaking about the agreement, Global Bet’s CEO Daniel Grabher commented:

“We are thrilled that Betway’s African licensee partner selected us as their virtual sports provider. They have quickly become market leaders in the region, and we are looking forward to supporting them with our full range of products as they expand.”

Grabher also explained how his companies experience in the African market for around ten years, working with Editec, Africa’s leading lottery supplier, as well as providing virtual sports for Nigeria’s 1960Bet, will benefit Betway, stating; “Being in the African market for almost a decade now, we have set a standard in virtual sports and shaped the market to what it is today. Our virtual football game is regarded as the most successful virtual sports game by operators in the market. With operational margins exceeding traditional sports betting operations in some regions, virtual sports are currently the most sought-after gaming products in Africa.”

The games will be available in Nigeria, Uganda, Gambia and Ghana as part of the Betway Africa group, the regional license owner and part of the larger Betway Group.

Virtual Sports in Africa

At the ICE Africa conference in August 2019, one of the main topics of discussion from one the exhibitors, Golden Race, was the massive increase in interest in Virtual Sports betting across the continent.

It had been noted that African punters are very keen to play Virtual Sports, especially when their preferred sports are out of season, which is when Virtual Sports can offer punters a chance to bet on virtual versions of their preferred sport, which in the main seems to be football.

Given that the betting industry in Africa is not as ingrained and established as it is in other parts of the world, there is clearly a huge potential market for all forms of betting across the continent, especially as greater numbers of the huge population of the continent start to gain access to the technology needed in order to enjoy sports betting and virtual sports gaming.

Feather in the Cap

The move into the four African markets is another feather in the cap for Betway. Formed in 2006, the internet-based bookmaker has seen its profile raised thanks to a number of initiatives, including the sponsorship of esports team Ninjas in Pyjamas, as well as Premier League team West Ham United, as well as being the main sponsor of Aintree racecourse, which will be the site of next month’s Grand National Horse race, which itself is often the subject of a virtual simulation on ITV Racing.
