The 2022 FIFA World Cup has set up some breath-taking quarterfinal ties. Most of the favorites from the round of 16 stages have gone through, with Spain being the exception after getting knocked out by Morocco on penalties. Morocco are now the only African team left in the tournament. In this FIFA World Cup quarterfinals betting preview, we take a look at how the tournament should progress from here on.

The online sports betting stakes will ramp up even more with just eight teams left in the world’s premier football tournament, so make sure you’re keeping a close eye on developments from here on as you make your World Cup quarterfinals predictions – little moments of brilliance can change the complexion of this tournament quickly. And while you wait for the quarterfinal round to begin, you can also bet on virtual football which sticks to the broader theme of the season but brings a different pace to wagering.

The quarterfinals kick off with Croatia taking on Brazil. Brazil have odds of -275 to win this tie, and there should be no cause for surprise here. It’ll take a monumental effort to knock Brazil out at the quarterfinals of the FIFA World Cup, particularly with tired legs in the Croatia camp after the win against Japan. Make sure you check out our Thunderpick review before you pick a platform to bet on.

Next up in the quarterfinals, Argentina will face the Netherlands. Argentina seem to have stumbled across a cohesive unit as the tournament has progressed. The Netherlands, on the other hand, will always stand a chance with Virgil van Dijk protecting their backline. The Dutch boss, Louis van Gaal, is a master analyst of the opposition and should have some plans to hamper Messi and his party. The Oranje aren’t a bad punt with odds of +260.

We’d like to say the same for England who have odds of +210 to beat France, but this really is the moment of reckoning for them. The two teams have identical records so far, but France are definitely a level above England in attacking quality, and if football is to come home for England at last, this will need to be the fixture they win.

No such expectations will weigh on Morocco when they take on Portugal, in what will be the closest game to call for the rest of the tournament. But Portugal might just have cracked their best XI ahead of this fixture.
