GoldenRace will be looking to snap up some more prizes at the SBC Awards 2021 in London on 14 December. The operator, which collected the award in 2020 for the Virtual Sports Supplier category, could end up winning a possible six awards in its own right at the prestigious event.

GoldenRace is nominated in the Employer of the Year category for Operator and Supplier Awards. The brand is also nominated in the Land Based Betting & Gaming Product, Multi-Channel Supplier, and Innovation in Mobile categories.

Significantly, the brand has also been nominated in two virtual sports betting categories: Virtual Sports Supplier and Virtual Sports Innovation. Additionally, GoldenRace is also up for three awards at the SBC Awards Latinoamérica 2021, which will be held in Miami on October 28 – Sportsbook Supplier of the Year, Platform Provider of the Year and Virtual Sports Supplier.

Virtual sports betting has been gaining massively in popularity in recent years, with punters flocking to betting sites to place wagers on virtual soccer, virtual basketball, virtual cycling and virtual horse racing.

Virtual sports suppliers face off

GoldenRace, which is based in Malta, won the SBC award 2020 in the Virtual Sports Supplier category, so the brand will be keen to repeat that success in 2021. Of course, GoldenRace faces some significant opposition in the category, with some virtual sports heavyweights competing with the Maltese operator.

Rivals in the Virtual Sports Supplier category at the 2021 awards are BetConstruct and Betradar, as well as Highlight Games, Inspired Entertainment, Kiron Interactive, Nsoft and Vermantia. That kind of quality means that GoldenRace will face stiff competition if it wants to repeat 2020’s success.

GoldenRaces’ virtual sports products are enjoyed by a massive audience across the world. Bettors can wager on their products in over 50,000 betting shops globally and across 400 online betting brands. Founded in 2006, GoldenRace has over 300 employees, and also owns several other major brands in the gambling industry, including slot developer Spinmatic and live games provider HollywoodTV.

The recent global COVID-19 pandemic saw an explosion in the popularity of virtual sports betting as live sporting events were curtailed. Give how quickly technology around concepts like multiverses is developing, bettors are likely to be able to enjoy some significantly enhanced virtual sports betting experiences in coming years. Brands are now racing to position themselves at the forefront of what could turn out to be the next big step in the betting industry.

Martin Wachter, GoldenRace CEO & Founder, is delighted that his brand has been nominated in so many categories at the two SBC Awards events. He said: “We are always delighted to be shortlisted for awards as prestigious as SBC. We are glad our team’s hard work is being recognised and relish the opportunity to take part in these great events.”

NSoft goes head-to-head with GoldenRace in Virtual Sports Supplier category

One of the big names competing against GoldenRace in the Virtual Sports Supplier category at the London awards is NSoft. A major highlight of NSoft’s nomination is their Virtual Penalty Shootout. This feature was added to their offerings in November 2020, and is already available to bettors in 15 different countries.

The judges panel for the SBC Awards includes some serious heavy hitters from the gambling industry. Among the names deciding on which awards go where are Adam Wilson (CEO of Splashtech), Adam Weinstein (CEO of Thrive Fantasy), and Aiste Garneviciene (COO of BetGames).

All the judges have to sign a non-disclosure agreement ahead of the process, and also to declare any conflicts of interest they may have in specific areas. If they have conflicts of interest, they are prevented from judging in those categories. Judges are allocated to categories based on their specific areas of expertise and experience.

In addition to the virtual sports-related categories, judges will also determine the destination of the award for Sportsbook of the Year. There are some major names vying for glory in this category.

Nominations for Sportsbook of the Year include brands such as Bet365, the Betsson Group and Novibet. Pinnacle, the LeoVegas Mobile Gaming Group, Novibet and the FanDuel Group are some of the other renowned operators seeking the prize.
